Who we are

Harvest Forward is a community-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit tackling food insecurity through fresh, nutritious, and culturally relevant food.  We start with a simple idea:  fresh food boxes shared through trusted local organizations with families whose SNAP benefits don’t stretch far enough.   By sourcing food locally and distributing it through community partners, we reduce waste, support growers, and make sure every harvest has a home.

FOUNDER AND CEO

Meet Vikram: Vikram is a student and community advocate who founded Harvest Forward after noticing how easily families struggle when food assistance is delayed or reduced.  While volunteering and learning about food insecurity, he kept seeing the same pattern:  food pantries work incredibly hard, but fresh food and usable ingredients are often limited or already past their prime.

That observation led to a simple question:  What if fresh food were treated as essential, not extra?

Harvest Forward began with that idea.  By sourcing fresh food locally and distributing it through trusted community partners, Vikram set out to make healthy, familiar food more accessible to families who need it most.  What started as a small, practical response continues to grow as community needs grow.

OUR VALUES

Dignity - Everyone deserves food that is fresh, nourishing, and worth bringing home.  We design our programs to avoid stigma, and respect lived experience.

Community First - We work through trusted local organizations because they know their neighborhoods best.  We listen before we act.

Equity and Inclusion - Food assistance should meet people where they are. We provide food that respects culture, choice, and real needs.

Evidence and Learning - We use data, research, and feedback to improve our programs and share what works.

Stewardship - We treat food, funding, and partnerships with care, minimizing waste and maximizing impact.
